Our library is our pride, now with good comments from those who have ventured in to inspect it– the papa orometua, police and others. Great stuff!!

Mangaia Update - February 2009

Message from Takau
We have made a huge progress in our library even though we are still getting our old books in to the system. Most of them are in.

I'm lucky to have a supportive team here particularly Sue and Marilyn and also one of the parents volunteered to help with barcoding and colour coding our books before entering them into the computer.

We have opened our library to the community with a number of adults taking books to read as well as for their babies. The highlight last week is our colleagues from the disability centre.

Message from Sue

During the holidays I read about 30 of the new books and I am very very
impressed. There are a lot of great books in our library. Well done with the
choosing of the titles. The kids are still loving going to the library and
are taking out lots of books. Our own collection of books is now integrated
with the new ones and they are all being borrowed.
Takau is working hard to get our non-fiction and adult novels into the
system. The library is a busy place which is wonderful.
