Kia orana Teina, Anna, Anne, Kerry, Mum, Enua and Barry

I am on my way to Tonga but Olive at Raeco is trying to organise getting all the new scanners delivered to my sisters house in Auckland and then I will bring them home with me at the end of next week. The rest of your shopping will come on the boat. The first lot of books should be on their way to your schools ( except maybe Barry's unless books know how to swim).

At Robertson Road in Mangere

Testing, Testing!!!

Kia Orana Everyone!!
Its Kerry here trying to post or get into this BLOG Program that we are trying very to get into. This is the second time that I have signed in, it wasn't succesfull at first because Enoa kept disturbing and hurrying me along, then I forgot to save and publish. So hopefully this second time around will be a success for me.

At this very moment I have no photos to add on to the BLOG, I really need somebody like Barry Ross to help me install the photos. Barry can you please reply as soon as you read this, Enoa and I are waiting patiently.
We will appreciate you all (the experts)to respond to my request as well.

Thankyou ra
Kerry Lazaro

Adventure for the Cooks in finding more about books

Greetings to all.

I hope you have each enjoyed your time here at the National Library. Great to find out all the details in which we hope to implement at our schools in the Cooks.

All the best on your adventure of new discoveries.

ESOL CLASS @ Papatoetoe Int

Here I am in Mrs Daya Prasads ESOL class. I was very impressed with the amount of activity that was happening in this particular room. These young students were working on indivdual projects and were comfortable and confident with the tasks.
Mrs Daya Prasad is well known for her work with ESOL students and has three classrooms to cater for this at their school.
Something we might like to look into later on.

FUNNY MAN

Here we are at Bairds Mainfreight School in South Auckland, the friendly librarian is showing us how to use MUSAC...check out Barry's reaction......."Auuuee....no more hunting for me."
What a lovely student friendly library.

Visiting Papatoetoe Intermediate

I had the great pleasure of driving Barry, Anne and Ana to Papatoetoe Intermediate so they could watch the teacher/librarian, Chris Coomes deliver an integrated information technology and library session to a year 7 class.

The video clips show Chris explainging to his class how they can keep a record of every book they read along with a list of websites that are listed in the back of books.

The second clip is of two students explaining why they love reading books and linking to the websites.

Photos of these sessions have also been included.

Library Learning

Kia Orana from New Market, Auckland.

My Name is Anna Roumanu nee Rasmussen and I am a Cook Islander from the Cook Islands (Rarotonga to be exact) visiting New Zealand with a group of 6 Fantastic teachers (THE BEST IN THE WORLD)... ONE of us even came all the way from Atiu...thats Barry Ross. hahaha.

Our group consists of Mum from Arorangi School, Kerri fromTakitumu School, Teina from Avatea, Enoa from Rutaki, Barry from Enuamanu, Anne from Papaaroa and lil old me from Titikaveka College.

We're here as part of a workshop that aims to improve our libraries back home in the Cooks and eventually LITERACY in general for us all.

On our visit I have picked up so many KOOL and IMPORTANT points, tips, skills, ideas, understandings about what we can do to create, organise, present and successfully use a library within our schools.

The Library is an essential part of our schools that always needs care and attention.

We need the support of the Principal, all staff and the community to create and maintain a GOOD library.

EFFECTIVE WEEDING IS SOOOOOOOOOO IMPORTANT!!

We loved going to WHEELERS where we could imagine choosing all those glorious books for ourselves!!!

I have to go home and get cleaning... lol.

Shopping at Wheelers

We went shopping for books at Wheelers yesterday. I wished we had spent a whole day there as I would have loved to have a more thorough look at the books I would like to have in my school library.

Can't wait to put the new books in our library.

Cheers
